The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod and Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce Address Economic Forecast and Trends as Summer Approaches

April 20, 2021 (Hyannis, MA) – The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod, in partnership with the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, addresses recent economic trends and looks ahead to the summer season during the latest installment of its “Twenty-Minute Tuesdays” series.

The new edition of the monthly online Q&A video series, which provides local businesses and nonprofit organizations access to The Coop’s expert team, features Bank Chair, President and CEO Lisa Oliver and is hosted by Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce CEO Wendy Northcross.

The prerecorded Q&A session can be viewed now on the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce landing page at  http://bit.ly/20MinuteTuesdays.

“Businesses on Cape Cod are preparing for what promises to be a very busy summer season, despite the pandemic,” said Oliver. “The Coop stands ready to assist local businesses as they navigate challenges – expected and unexpected – during this anything but typical summer.”

Topics discussed include liquidity and reserves from the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) for businesses as they head into the summer season; timing of PPP funding rounds and how it has impacted local seasonal businesses; predictions of robust leisure travel to Cape Cod this summer; recruiting challenges, especially with H-2B visa employees; and housing affordability in the region.

In 2021, The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod and Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce are both celebrating the centennial of their founding.

The Coop, which will officially mark the 100th anniversary milestone on July 19, was established in 1921 as a mutual community bank serving residents of Cape Cod and has remained true to that commitment for the past century.

“I congratulate the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce on the occasion of its centennial,” said Oliver. “Like The Coop, it has served Cape Cod and Cape Codders as a true community asset during all of the ups-and-downs of the past 100 years.”
