Press Release: Mashpee Commons by Design Announces “Tuesday Talks”

Mashpee, MA – Today, Mashpee Commons by Design announced the dates and locations for
several “Tuesday Talks” designed to begin a discussion with local, regional, and national experts
regarding key themes and ideas that emerged from the previously hosted public visioning
workshops. The Tuesday Talks will consist of moderated panel discussions with subject area
experts, and will provide opportunities for attendees to engage in the conversation, share
ideas, and ask questions.
In November and December, Mashpee Commons by Design hosted a series of public visioning
workshops for Mashpee residents and stakeholders to share ideas on what they imagine for the
future of the Commons. The successful workshops attracted over 300 attendees and resulted in
hundreds of valuable suggestions.
“We were thrilled that so many people attended the visioning workshops to share their passion
and ideas on what they would like to see in the future of the Commons,” said Buff Chace,
Managing General Partner of Mashpee Commons. “It was evident from the workshops that the
Commons serves as an economic engine for the town and the region, as a wonderful home for
its residents, and as a source of entertainment and quality of life on the Cape.
“There were many common themes expressed at the workshops, such as a desire for more
housing options, a need to address local infrastructure deficiencies, and a yearning to create
more public spaces for people to enjoy. We’re excited to announce these Tuesday Talks as a
way to explore those themes further and determine how we can incorporate them into our
planning process.”
The Tuesday Talks will be held on the following Tuesdays in March and April, with panelists

visioning workshops produced. The open houses will begin at 5:00 p.m. each night, and are
open to all interested parties.

community-based design. For decades, Mashpee residents have enjoyed the Commons’
wonderful public spaces, community events, and its retail, dining, and residential experiences.
Mashpee Commons by Design was created as a way to directly engage the community to
conceptualize the next phases of Mashpee Commons, and has facilitated a process of designing
