Hyannis, March 14, 2019 – Nearly 1,000 walkers – Cape Abilities participants, their family members, guardians, professional staff, and dedicated community partners – will walk side-by-side on Saturday, May 18, along the beautiful 2.2 mile Hyannis Harbor, and then return to the Hyannis Village Green for entertainment, games, food samplings, live music!
This year’s Harbor Walk is a celebration of more than 50 years of service and support for hundreds of individuals with disabilities across Cape Cod.
“2019 is a monumental year for us at Cape Abilities,” notes Cape Abilities President and CEO, Jonathan Sproul. “We are thrilled to have Casey Sherman as our Grand Marshall for this year’s very special party, and we invite everyone in the Cape community to join and party with us, to celebrate the unique individuals we serve.”
“I’m known for writing stories about true heroes, and heroism is on display each and every day at Cape Abilities,” said Sherman, pictured above with (l-r) Cape Abilities participants Stephen, Hayley and Abby. “You see it in the men and women who face their own challenges head on, teaching and inspiring others in the process. You see it in the eyes of each dedicated staff member who all work to provide exciting new opportunities for those they serve. There is a true family atmosphere at Cape Abilities where all are committed to elevating the human spirit and bringing joy and purpose to each other’s lives.”
This event is Cape Abilities’ biggest fundraiser of the year, raising money to help the agency continue to provide extraordinary services for hundreds of individuals with disabilities across Cape Cod.
