New Exhibition Opening November 2 at the Cahoon Museum of American Art

Twisted, Twined, and Woven: Contemporary Fiber Art

Twisted, Twined, and Woven features the work of eight regional artists who are pioneering new directions in contemporary fiber art. The exhibit includes hand-sewn reliefs, felted sculpture, knot work, basketry and sculptural installations. Cultural references and contemplations on identity surface in these artworks, and they represent a diverse sampling of the expanding definition of fiber art today.

Exhibiting artists include: Jodi Colella, Jacqueline Davidson, Anna Kristina Goransson, Sarah Haskell, Andy Mauery, Salley Mavor, Diane Savona, and Elizabeth Whyte Schulze.

Artist’s Workshops
Saturday, November 10th | 1:00 – 3:00 PM
“Wish Upon a Star” Ornament Workshop with Sarah Haskell
Join weaver Sarah Haskell for a fun workshop as you create a star-shaped ornament using natural materials, ribbons, beads, and buttons to celebrate the transition of seasons. All ages and abilities welcome; materials included.
$30, $25 for museum members, limited to 16 participants.

Wednesday, December 12th | 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Sculptural Shibori Workshop with Jodi Colella
Join artist Jodi Colella for a Sculptural Shibori workshop and create your own fiber sculpture. Use small found objects with binding, heat setting, and the Japanese fabric dying technique of Shibori to produce a textural, Tactile, and visually stunning artwork. No experience needed. Registration required.
$65, $55 for museum members, limited to 12 participants.
