Nauset Disposal Awarded Cape Cod’s Best Green Business

Orleans, MA – Nauset Disposal, headquartered in Orleans, was recognized on Thursday, May 23, 2019 with the 2019 Cape Cod’s Best Green Business or Organization. The inaugural Cape Cod’s Best competition was hosted by the Cape Cod Times and included voting from readers across the region.

“Being ‘environmentally friendly’ is part of our mission statement. We understand the sensitivity of our local surroundings. Often considered a less than glamorous business, it is important to lead by example,” says Shawn DeLude, President of Nauset Disposal. “Being ‘green’ isn’t just a phrase at Nauset Disposal, it’s a practice. It would encourage more companies to stop talking and start doing. We all have a responsibility to protect our environment.”

Examples of environmental related initiatives include converting the majority of the company’s fleet of trucks to Power Flo, an Ecologo approved, non-toxic, biodegradable and water-soluble hydraulic fluid. Nauset Disposal also partners with the Center for Coastal Studies each year on a grant based project funded by the Fishing for Energy program to reduce marine debris and plastics in the ocean. Fishing for Energy is a partnership of the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, Covanta Energy Corporation, Schnitzer Steel Industries, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Founded in 2000, Nauset Disposal is one of the leading disposal companies in the Cape Cod region and in 2018, expanded its services to the greater Plymouth area. The company prides itself on providing outstanding customer service, while conducting business with respect for the environment and a continuing dedication to the communities it serves. Nauset Disposal has approximately 50 employees and provides residential disposal and recycling services, commercial waste solutions, dumpster rentals, roll-off services, temporary fencing, junk removal and portable toilets for job sites, events and weddings.
