May 22-June 30 “Mostly Horses” a horse-themed art exhibit by Nancy Minnigerode will be on view at Woodruff’s Art Center in Mashpee Commons. There is an opening reception on Wednesday, May 22 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
Being both an accomplished artist and horsewoman has laid a perfect foundation for Nancy Minnigerode’s latest art exhibition. With lively, candid strokes of color, she brings her favorite subject to life through paintings, drawings and printmaking.
A quiet moment is captured in a pastel sketch of a newborn colt with its mom, while another pastel sketch exudes the energy and power of a rearing pony. Inquisitiveness is expressed in an oil painting of two heads in contrasting colors. Nancy applies her mediums boldly and loosely, revealing her excitement for and love of equines.
Nancy’s passion for both art and horses started in her youth. Her education in both fields encompasses an Associate Degree in Visual Art from Cape Cod Community College, a Certificate in Natural Science Illustration from Rhode Island School of Design, and a Riding Instructor Certification from the British Horse Society which was fueled by her interest in the “art” of riding while at UMass Amherst. Nancy grew up on Cape Cod and resides with her husband Kevin and a plethora of rescued cats in their Marstons Mills home.
