Announce Tree Dedication at the Mashpee Rotary on Wednesday, August 15th.
The Mashpee Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Mashpee will dedicate one the new trees at the rotary in memory of Private First-Class Paul E. Conlon Jr. of Mashpee who died in combat in Afghanistan on August 15, 2008. The dedication is being held on the 10th anniversary of his death on Wednesday August 15th at 11am. His mother, Maria Conlon made a donation to help pay for the tree in her son’s memory and in honor of all the men and women of the armed services. The town is providing a police detail to allow people to safely gather at the rotary for the dedication.
The chamber and the town have joined forces to replace the trees that were destroyed last winter in a severe storm in time for the holiday tree lighting the day after Thanksgiving. Two Norway spruces were purchased with the donation from Maria Conlon and funding provided by the Mashpee Chamber of Commerce. The trees were planted in July and another tree is scheduled to be planted later this year.
The dedication is open to public.
