On Wednesday, May 18th, 2022, the Mashpee Chamber will hold our first in-person Annual Meeting & Cocktail Party since 2019. We're looking forward to a fun evening with our members and the Mashpee community!
This year, as part of our awards program, we will be presenting two categories for recognition. The first is our annual "Citizen of the Year" award, where we recognize a Mashpee businessperson who went above and beyond this past year in making a lasting impact on the community.
The second is a new category -- a thank-you to those we've counted on these past two years during the pandemic. With the "Mashpee Unsung Heroes" awards, we will honor and recognize individuals who are considered "essential" and work to take care of the public's needs.
The Mashpee Chamber of Commerce and distinguished committee recognize the following 2022 award recipients:

Jonathan Fryer is an attorney and co-owner of Cape & Island Distillers, a small batch distillery located at 10a Evergreen Circle in Mashpee. He has been practicing law for over 35 years, primarily in real estate, small business, wills and trusts. However, Jonathan has always been involved in other projects and small business, from large scale real estate developments to building one of the first breweries in Massachusetts. Looking forward to part-time retirement on the Cape, he and two other partners founded Cape & Island Distillers in 2013. Their goal is to produce the highest quality spirits available to the Cape Cod community.
Jonathan attended Boston College and New England School of Law. He is active in town affairs and has held several elected and appointed positions in Dover, Massachusetts. Currently he is serving on the Board of the Massachusetts Distillers Association and the Dover Neighborhood Fund. He is a longtime member of the Norfolk County Bar Association and the Real Estate Bar of Massachusetts, where he has been on the Affordable Housing Committee since 2004.
Jonathan resides part time in Sandwich and plans to be there full time soon. He is married to Janey Fryer, who is a teacher and naturalist. He has three children.
Bob Maffei
In the summer of 1990, with nothing more than a lawnmower and a vision, Bob Maffei started on his path to success by founding what became one of Cape Cod’s largest landscape maintenance and snow removal companies. After operating it for almost 30 years, he sold Maffei Landscape Contractors in 2017 and stepped down as CEO in 2019. That same year, Bob became the managing partner of LandOne Takeoff, a green industry software company that recently was sold to the software giant, Service Titan.
In addition to spending time with his wife Reyna and his two young boys, Bob is now directing his experience to leading The Maffei Companies, a team of small business consultants with the mission of creating more life for everyone in the companies they serve.
