Cape Cod Academy Students Performed Seussical

Cape Cod Academy (CCA) students gave three entertaining performances of the musical, Seussical, this past weekend in the School’s auditorium in Osterville. Directed by Sarah Fachada, CCA’s Middle & Upper School Choral Director, the show featured students in grades 2 to 12 who were excited to portray the variety of characters from Dr. Seuss fables.

The students brought many of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters to life, including The Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie and JoJo as they told the magical story of friendship, loyalty, and love through songs and dances. Performances were held on Friday and Saturday evenings, March 16th and 17th, with a matinee on Sunday, March 18th.

“This four-month long project provides students the opportunity to build new friendships, learn from each other, and work together as a team to create wonderful performances for the greater community,” said Sarah Fachada.

CCA has expanded its performing arts program in the last two years to include band, jazz, and string ensembles in grades 4-12 in addition to general music classes from kindergarten through 8th grade. The school has also built a new black box theatre this year and is hiring a new drama director so that it can offer a drama productions in the fall, winter, and spring.

“Performing arts at CCA are not only beautiful,” said Head of School Tom Trigg, “they also build in our students the skills and confidence to stand in front of an audience and deliver in a way that gives them an advantage in life.”

Cape Cod Academy is a K through 12 independent day school in Osterville, MA.
