The end of August signifies the beginning of the new school year, for both children and the young adults beginning or returning to college. Mashpee students return to school on Tuesday, September 5th. Several of our members have their back to school specials, informational classes for parents as well as support groups, and are getting their after-school programs ready.
Boys and Girls Club of Cape Cod have several events going on. The first are Parent Open Houses, taking place on Monday September 11th and Tuesday September 12th from 5 – 7 PM. Join the Boys and Girls Club to learn about the fall programs that are going to be offered. Children are also welcomed if they are accompanied by a parent or guardian. The Boys and Girls Club will re-open on Wednesday, September 13th for children who are in grades 1 to 8 and the teen program will re-open the following week.
Woodruff’s Art Center, located next door to us in the Mashpee Commons on North Market Street, also provides art supplies for students who are interested in art or are taking art-related classes. Every day, there is 40% discount on Classic Cotton Stretched Canvas. This is great for traditional painting techniques as well as mixed media. There are numerous other supplies available at Woodruff’s, so be sure to stop by and check them out.
For the teachers, the end of August means having to get back into the routine of waking up at 4 AM to get ready for the day. What teacher does not love a good cup of coffee to jump-start the day? Cape Cod Coffee is now in the Mashpee Commons and opens at 6 AM. Dunkin’ Donuts at South Cape Village also offers flavorful coffee, such as Pumpkin Spice Latte, which will be offered next week!
As residents of Mashpee already know, L.L. Bean is coming to town! There will be a grand opening celebration September 1st to September 3rd, so the store will be open just in time for the new school year. On Friday starting at 9 AM, the first 200 customers will receive a L.L. Bean Gift Card up to $500!
