Saturday, April 6th – 2 to 3:30 pm
We are excited to join the Mashpee Historical Commission in hosting an engaging group of speakers this year! Come learn more about the town of Mashpee, both past and present. Speaker series programs will be held on Saturdays during the months of April, May, June, October and November and will lead up to the town’s 150th Anniversary in 2020!

For the month of April, we are excited to welcome Barbara Berenson, author of Massachusetts in the Woman Suffrage Movement: Revolutionary Reformers. Ms. Berenson is also the author of Boston in the Civil War: Hub of the Second Revolution and Walking Tours of Civil War Boston: Hub of Abolitionism. A graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School, she works as a Senior Attorney at the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court and serves on the Boards of Boston By Foot and the Royall House & Slave Quarters.

The program is free and refreshments will be served. All are invited.

Aww, Shucks : All About Oysters
Saturday, April 13th – 2 to 3 pm
Oysters are not only tasty culinary treats, but they also help in cleaning up Mashpee’s coastal waters. Oysters are efficient filter feeders that help remove excess nitrogen by incorporating it into their shells and tissue as they grow. Representatives from the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension and the Mashpee Department of Natural Resources will be at the library to provide information about nitrogen remediation. Learn how you can join Mashpee’s volunteer force helping to propagate oysters!
