Mashpee Chamber Board of Directors Appoints New Executive Director

(Mashpee, MA) – The Mashpee Chamber of Commerce welcomes Stephanie Viva as its new Executive Director.
Stephanie, a radio industry veteran of 25 years who has led Lemonadio and Stephanie Viva Communications, personifies Mashpee, with deep ties to the community, incredible contributions to business development, and a strong work ethic forged during her service in the Army.
Stephanie Viva's journey from radio to entrepreneurship is a testament to her dedication to growth and innovation. As CCO of Lemonadio and Stephanie Viva Communications, she's passionate about helping businesses succeed.
“We are thrilled to announce that Stephanie Viva has accepted the role of Executive Director for the Mashpee Chamber of Commerce,” says Brian Lewis, Board President. “Stephanie brings with her a wealth of experience and knowledge from previous positions with the right personality and excitement for carrying on the growth that we have experienced the last couple of years. Stephanie lives in Mashpee with her business partner and husband, Cliff, who runs his own MSP NE Packet. Together, they share a blended family of five children, so making our town flourish is very important to them.

“Pickle Palooza 2024: A Dill-icious Celebration!” is a chance to dress as a pickle and run your fastest in a pickle relay race as part of a first pickle-themed celebration in Mashpee.
The tangy new tradition is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Mashpee Farmers Market at Naukabout Beer Garden at 4 Job’s Fishing Road in Mashpee Commons.
“It’s just going to be a fun community event. We have games for the children, we have music, we even have a pickle seltzer Naukabout is making with our brine, and the Hawaiian ice lady is bringing a dill pickle ice,” said Amina Smaykiewicz, owner of Cape Cod Pickle Co.
Smaykiewicz said the fledgling company doesn’t usually give out samples when it sells at farmers markets, but will make an exception for the Pickle Palooza.
“If you’re not sure what you like, this is the day to get down there to get the free samples and decide,” said Smaykiewicz, whose husband, Chris Kaczmarek, has been making pickles for family and friends for 20 years.
Cape Cod Pickle Co. makes a half-dozen varieties, including the half-sours that are part of the couple’s Polish heritage. Amina, who is also Russian, contributed a recipe for beets that are roasted and then pickled in apple cider vinegar.
All of the goods are made at the Cape Cod Culinary Incubator in Hyannis. They are refrigerated, rather than canned, to keep them extra crunchy, Smaykiewicz said, and sold at $8 for eight ounces or $15 for 16 ounces.
Mashpee Farmers Market director Stephanie Viva said the market, which draws 30 to 60 vendors each Sunday, is always looking for new ways ― and encourages suggestions on how ― to engage people in healthful eating. She points to POP, or Power of Produce, a joint venture with the Mashpee Chamber of Commerce which gives kids a token to spend each week on a fruit or vegetable they haven't yet tried.

In celebration, the Mashpee Chamber of Commerce will host a Grand Opening and ribbon-cutting on Friday, August 30th at 10 am. Attendees are welcome to enjoy samples and shop the menu afterward at their leisure. This event is open to the public.
This new location features grab and go snacks, a vast boba tea menu, healthy drinks and exotic street drinks from Asia. This location, their food truck and other storefront on Route 151 provide a new twist of asian, plant-based and organic ingredients. Freshroll incorporates all original family recipes, while curating a seasonal selection for all customers to enjoy.

The Mashpee Chamber of Commerce hosted the 17th Annual La Tavola Italian Feast last Friday, August 2 at Christ The King Parish.
Hailed as Mashpee's evening of "Little Italy," La Tavola is a lively celebration of Italian food, drink, music and culture. The five-course feast was catered by Villagio Ristorante, of Cotuit, and guests were serenaded by Aaron Caruso, an Italian tenor singer, while they dined.

btone’s 17th Studio offers workouts that use custom-engineered machines, featuring slow movements for fast results
Mashpee, MA — [July 22, 2024] — btone FITNESS is pleased to announce the official opening of its newest location in Mashpee, Massachusetts today, July 22, 2024. The new 2,000 square-foot studio is the growing Massachusetts-based company’s 17th studio and is the latest in the company’s rapidly expanding franchise portfolio which now totals 14 studios. In celebration, the Mashpee Chamber of Commerce will host a Grand Opening and ribbon-cutting on Friday, July 26th at 10am. Attendees are welcome to tour the facility and partake in festivities. The new Mashpee studio, located at 32 Bates Road in Mashpee Commons, is owned and operated by Mashpee, MA residents and husband / wife team, Pete and Mel Collura, long-time devotees of btone FITNESS who say the btone workout is a “genius hybrid of resistance training, yoga and pilates, making it the perfect full-body workout for anyone visiting Cape Cod this summer.”
The new Mashpee studio joins other btone FITNESS locations throughout New England, including those in greater Boston (Back Bay, the North End and South Boston.) Additional studios include those in Boston Metro (Lexington, Waltham, Wayland and Wellesley), on the North Shore (Andover, Hamilton, Marblehead, Middleton), on the South Shore and Cape Cod (Hanover, Harwich, Kingston), and others in Hartford, CT and Providence, RI. Expansion plans call for additional studios to open throughout the US in the coming months including locations in Walpole, MA, Lakeview, Chicago, Salt Lake City, UT, and Melrose, MA.

Mel Collura is also extremely proud to be the first Black female owner of a btone FITNESS franchise location. Class proceeds from the opening weekend will benefit Cape Cod Foster Closet, which is a program of Nurturing Foster Families, Inc., a registered 501(c)(3) organization, supporting foster and relative caregiver families by providing material goods for children in care. The Cape Cod Foster Closet assists foster, pre-adoptive, and kinship families by providing necessary items such as clothing, shoes, toys, books, baby equipment (including formula and car seats) and furniture for all ages. Their mission is to help fulfill the physical and emotional needs of foster families.

Reservations are open for the Mashpee Chamber of Commerce’s 17th annual La Tavola Italian Feast on Friday, August 2, 5:30–8 PM, at Mashpee’s Parish of Christ the King.
The chamber calls the event Mashpee’s night of “Little Italy.” The evening includes a five-course feast that seats 400 dinner guests and features musical guests Aaron Caruso, Italian tenor, and Corey Pesaturo, accordionist. Steeple Street Music Academy will also feature young performers.
The food will be catered by Villaggio Ristorante of Cotuit.
Tickets are $80 per person (nonrefundable), and proceeds benefit the Mashpee Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund and #ShopMashpee campaigns.

(Mashpee, MA) - CARE for the Cape & Islands has awarded the Mashpee Farmers Market a $2000.00 grant for a 2024 Reusable Pilot Grant “Reduce, Reuse: Drink, Wash, Repeat,” inspiring event attendees to reuse cups to eliminate single use plastics from the environment.
Starting in May of 2024, the Mashpee Market (501c3), Mashpee Chamber of Commerce (501c6), Naukabout Brewery, and Lemonadio will host its first farmers/makers market to attract both visitors and locals to Mashpee to purchase goods, enjoy entertainment, and learn about environmental sustainability through various programs. Mashpee Market’s goal is to create a sustainable and environmentally responsible event that increases visibility and education towards reusing and reducing plastic waste that are overwhelming our landfills and seeping into our cherished Cape Cod waterways, and even into our own bodies.
We know that across the nation there is in excess of one billion single-use disposable cups used for various beverages, and the Mashpee Market wants to choose differently. While patrons enjoy their shopping experience with music, food, and beverages from Naukabout Brewing Company, our hands-on, educational approach to reduce the number of plastic single use cups distributed to beverage purchasers will be a large focus, thus preventing the unnecessary use of plastics through a Drink, Wash, and Repeat campaign.
“Switching from single use plastic cups to reusable cups is a change in inventory that can be pricey,” said Peter Murner of Naukabout Brewing Company. This grant will help the Mashpee Market become more environmentally friendly, help set an example for other organizations to make more sustainable choices when purchasing products, and create a lasting and mindful mark on all of the patrons attending this weekly event.

(Mashpee, MA) – The Mashpee Chamber of Commerce welcomes Nelson J. Andrews as its newest member to the Mashpee Chamber Board of Directors.
Nelson, who currently serves as the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe’s Emergency Management Director, brings 17+ years of combined Tribal, Federal, State and Local emergency management experience and cares deeply about building a more resilient Indian Country through preparedness and disaster recovery planning.
A Cape Cod native, Nelson’s professional journey began as a federal employee at FEMA in Boston then Herndon, VA, before returning to Cape Cod in April 2015 to begin his current role with the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe.
He serves as a Tribal Council Member, Chairman of the United South & Eastern Tribes Homeland Security/Emergency Service Committee, Vice President of the MW Community Development Corporation, and a Member of the FEMA Region I Regional Interagency Steering Committee.
“All of us at the Mashpee Chamber are looking forward to working with Nelson and collectively supporting the Mashpee business community,” said Brian Lewis of New Seabury Company LP and Mashpee Chamber President.
