The “Art on Loan” program which displays the work of local artists on the meeting room walls in Barnstable Town Hall, currently features the works of Lynne Carreiro. Works are displayed in the Selectmen’s Conference Room and the Town Hall Hearing Room, located on the 2nd floor in Barnstable Town Hall, now through November 30th, 2016.
The work on display is created with paper. Lynne uses paper as if it were paint, to create landscapes and room. Carreiro says, “Paper lends an ethereal quality to my work and I often embed small objects such as pressed leaves, flowers, shells, shards of glass, cloth and metal. Each collage is unique and some tell a story that is up to the interpretation of the viewer.”
Lynne Carreiro has been creating art since the age of six. She has worked in watercolor, acrylic, oil, colored pencil and collage. In between work and school, she took advantage of art classes at Cape Cod Conservatory, Cape Cod Community College, and the Falmouth Artist Guild as well as private lessons with local artists. “I was fortunate to have been born and raised on Cape Cod and lived most of my life in Osterville. During my non-retirement years I worked as a reporter for the Cape Cod Times and as a librarian in Bourne, Barnstable and Falmouth. The sea and the Cape have been an endless source of inspiration and joy”.
