The Community Health Center of Cape Cod, located on 107 Commercial Street—also one of the stops the Sealine makes between Falmouth and Hyannis—opened in 1998 as the Falmouth Free Clinic. The Falmouth Free Clinic was started by a dedicated group of physicians, nurses, counselors, and lay people who dedicated their time to provide free health services. Today, the Community Health Center provides access to health care for adults, children. And families.
I have been part of the Community Health Center since 2009, shortly before I moved to Mashpee. The support and services I have received there has been wonderful. There is a team for each patient, all of whom communicates with one another, as well as the patient, about providing the best care possible. Recently, they have set up an online system, where the patient can create an account and look at their medical history, health and related information, send messages to their primary care or physician.
The Community Health Center has also developed special programs to meet the unique needs the community requires, such as extensive diabetes care, primary care for veterans, addiction recovery treatment, youth suicide prevention services, and referrals for specialty care.
During the winter months, the CHC also provides walk-in care for those with urgent needs such as the flu, cough, cold, sore throat, and other minor illness or injury.
Walk-in care hours
Monday-Thursday 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM
Friday 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
