Second Brazilian Cultural Festival

Cotuit Center for the Arts & Brave Horse Music Presents the Second Brazilian Cultural Festival

The Festival will have a varied, full music program, displays of Brazilian products and services, and food samplings from Brazil sponsored by The Brazilian Grill of Hyannis & Dartmouth, MA.

Brazilian_Festival-no_yearFeatured acts will be The Fernando Brandão Sextet, featuring Marcella Camargo. Marcella Camargo currently lives in N.Y. and is a graduate of Berklee College of Music. The Band leader flautist, composer, author and educator Fernando Brandão has performed extensively as a bandleader, sideman, chamber musician and as a soloist with several ensembles and prominent orchestras both in his native Brazil and the US. The sextet will feature an eclectic repertoire of traditional and contemporary original music allying jazz improvisations to an authentic Brazilian sound. Also featured will be the drum corps & their band Bossa Triba and The Berkshire Bateria, a group known throughout New England for their energetic, rhythmic performances. The members of this group have studied extensively with samba masters in Salvador, Bahia Brazil. They can also be seen each year on Cape Cod in at the Blessing of the Fleet in Provincetown. The local band Cla Da Bossa Nova, featuring Brazilian singer Rayssa Ribiero, will play a mixture of modern Bossa Nova and Samba tunes. On the patio will be featured The Color of Dreams Band with Marianna Costa. And finally, Brazilian students from the Brazilian Roots program that takes place after school at the Sturgis Charter School in Hyannis, will be reading poetry in Portuguese.
