Meet the Author
Thursday, April 13 | 4:00 pm
Willowbend is pleased to welcome New York Times best selling author, Larry Tye, to discuss his new book, “Bobby Kennedy: The Making of a Liberal Icon,” at the Clubhouse on Thursday, April 13, beginning at 4:00 pm.
Mr. Tye will talk about Bobby Kennedy’s 1968 campaign, which was all about building bridges between the races, ages and classes. He will also examine the Kennedys’ special relationship with Cape Cod.
History remembers Robert F. Kennedy as a racial healer, a tribune for the poor and the last progressive knight of a bygone era of American politics. But Kennedy’s enshrinement in the liberal pantheon was actually the final stage of a journey that had its beginnings in the conservative 1950’s. In “Bobby Kennedy,” the author peels away layers of myth and misconception to paint a complete portrait of this singularly fascinating figure.
Mr. Tye has been an award-winning journalist at The Boston Globe and a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University. He is the author of the New York Times bestseller “Satchel,” as well as “Superman,” “The Father of Spin,” “Home Lands,” and “Rising from the Rails.”
The cost to attend this special event is $10 per person. A cash / member charge bar and complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be available. To sign up please call Colleen at 508-539-5328 or you may email her by clicking here. Books will be available for purchase.
