Mashpee Chamber Lobster Fest – Interview with Mike Regan

Lobster-UpdatedYou’re probably wondering who designed the awesome logo for the Mashpee Chamber Lobster Fest. The illustrator is none other than the brother of our own Katy Acheson—Mike Regan. Mike has been involved with illustration since graduating from UMass Dartmouth in 2013. When he first began college, Mike didn’t really think too much on what illustration actually meant. However, with some guidance from his professors, Mike learnt to value himself as an artist and that as long as he was doing art, he was an illustrator. One of the other things his college experience has taught him is to not get tied down to one single piece of art or its faults, but to keep moving forward instead.

When Mike does illustration, he uses Photoshop CS5 for the technical stuff and does most of the work in a program called Magna Studios. Mike says Magna Studio emulates brushes, inking, and blending more effectively than Photoshop. On the other hand, this is a specialized piece of software and lacks some of the extra features Photoshop has. One of Mike’s first illustrative work for the Mashpee Chamber of Commerce was creating the design for Pirate Palooza in 2013. He has been doing work for us since. He receives a lot of note and feedback from Katy, who is very clear with what she wants to show and this makes it easier for Mike to do the work that needs to be done.

When it comes to the Lobster Fest, Mike says Cape Cod is best known for its seafood so this is a nice way to experience some variety on that front. As for his favorite Lobster Fest food, he says he doesn’t have any in particular, but he loves Cape Cod Beer.

The Mashpee Chamber Lobster Fest will be on Friday, August 26th from 5 PM to 8:30 PM on the Village Green at the Mashpee Commons. Tickets are $50 and includes a variety of fresh Cape Cod delicacies!
