Guests for this special occasion will participate in a time-honored celebration, which includes eating a traditional Scottish meal (including a ceremonial haggis), toasts of whiskey, storytelling, singing and the recitation of poetry – all in the spirit of the Bard.  Tartan-clad performers Robin Bowerman and Brett Baird of the Falmouth Theater Guild will lead the merry-making as masters of ceremony, with help from bag pipers from the
Brian Boru Pipe Band.

Robert Burns was the National Bard of Scotland. The first Burns Supper took place on January 25, 1801, five years after his death, when a group of his friends held a dinner in his honor to mark his birthday. Today, you don’t have to be Scottish to take part in this beloved tradition. A sense of fun, good friends, tasty food, and a wee bit (or more!) of whiskey will make the evening memorable. We hope you will join us!

Tartans from all clans will be welcome, and no you don’t have to eat haggis…but we think you’ll like it! Click here to register or call 508-495-1878  x 310.

    Svetlana and the Delancey Five
    July 16, 4:00 pm

Mid-July is hot on Cape Cod but Highfield Hall will be even hotter as Svetlana brings her Delancey Five from NYC to Highfield Hall. Whether singing at the Roxie Hotel and other premier New York City jazz club, down to the secret underground speakeasies, Svetlana and her Delancey Five play hard swing 1920s-40s jazz standards as well as charismatic originals. It’s hard to imagine such incredible musical energy coming from one tent on the lawn of an historic Cape Cod mansion and its gardens. So bring along your dance shoes because the tent will be packed but not all of the lawn surrounding it!

Hilary Gardner, Vocalist and Ehud Asherie, Pianist
    August 13, 4:00 pm

Only one thing need be said about the singing of Hilary Gardner and it has already been written by Stephen Holden of the New York Times “…an uninhibited answer to the young Doris Day.” Her repertoire takes you back to the old standards of the Golden Age of Broadway and forward to the new and edgy sounds of American music in the 21st century. But there is a freshness to her delivery that makes people breathe just a bit harder. She brings with her Israeli pianist Ehud Asherie, who will make magic on our Mason & Hamlin grand piano. New York critics like him too, calling him “a master of swing and stride,” The New Yorker. The late afternoon of August 13 will be a classy time in our mansion. Why would you want to be anywhere else?
