Anthony Teixeira Sings Tony Bennett Duets with Friends
Produced & Directed by Ruth Condon
Anthony Teixeira has appeared as a lead singer/actor in many productions at Cotuit Center for the Arts, including the debut of this Tony Bennett tribute in January 2015. Other credits include Company, Spamalot, Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, Christmas in Cotuit, Cabaret, A Grand Night for Singing, What the World Needs Now: A Musical Tribute to Burt Bacharach, The Last Five Years and The Beat Goes On: A Musical Journey through the 60s. Anthony also acts at Cape Rep, Harwich Junior Theatre and with Theater Under the Stairs children’s productions.
Many songs chosen for this show are standards that Tony Bennett chose to re-record with other successful pop and jazz singers as duets. “One of my favorite albums, In Person Tony Bennett, which was released in 1959, I listened to incessantly when I was in my early twenties and studying voice,” says Director, Ruth Condon. “I studied every song on that album, as Tony Bennett’s phrasing is impeccable and it was a great music lesson.” In this show, Anthony shares duets and solos with his talented female guest vocalists, Brazilian singer, Rayssa Ribeiro, Cape’s favorite Jazz singer stylist Cerise Bynoe, R & B soul singer Emily Wade Adams a Eastham native, now living in N.Y.C. & Ruth Condon.
