Participants and staff from Cape Abilities visited the State House (MA) on February 23 to take part in Legislative Contact Day sponsored by the Association of Developmental Disabilities Providers (ADDP) to give individuals with disabilities an opportunity to meet with their local legislators, thank them for their past support of disability programs and explain the value of their continued support.
“It’s really nice to know someone is up here in Boston supporting people with disabilities and that we are not alone,” said Cape Abilities participant Shannon Geggatt, who echoed the thoughts of the entire Cape Abilities team.
State Representatives Dylan Fernandes and Will Crocker noted the contributions our participants are making within their communities and the valuable role Cape Abilities plays in ensuring their success.
“Cape Abilities provides a terrific service to our residents and local communities by fostering meaningful relationships between people with disabilities and community partners and businesses,” noted Mr. Fernandes. “We are proud to support them.”
“It was great to see Cape Abilities at the State House advocating for the rights of those with developmental issues,” added Mr. Crocker. “My family is very much aware of the work that they do and the opportunities they provide.”
Cape Abilities wishes to thank State Representatives Fernandes and Crocker for meeting with our team, and Senators Julian Cyr and Vinny De Macedo, and State Representatives Daniel Hunt, Sarah Peake, David Viera and Tim Whelan for supporting our community!
