January 15, 2016, Hyannis, MA – Cape Abilities celebrates the spirit of volunteering with a special Day of Service on Martin Luther King Day.
A spirited group of volunteers from AmeriCorps Cape Cod will work along side Cape Abilities staff and volunteers to brighten up our Life Skills Center with fresh coats of paint at the Lyndon Center in Hyannis.
“AmeriCorps knows what a great impact Cape Abilities has on the community,” notes Brittany Quaglieri, Program Specialist with Barnstable County AmeriCorps Cape Cod. “We are thrilled that we could partner with them again this year for Martin Luther King Day of Service. They are one of several outstanding community organizations we will be serving with that day on a variety of projects. It will be a great day – we love Cape Abilities!”
Initiated by Congress in 1994, the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service is a nationwide effort to transform the federal holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. into a day of community service. This celebration on Cape Cod has become a special day of volunteering, giving back, and making a real difference for our neighbors.
