Becki’s Photography Exhibit at Mashpee Public Library

This month, I am having some of my photography displayed at the Mashpee Public Library. The display went up on May 1st and they will remain on the upper level of the library until May 31st. The photographs are for sale, prices ranging from $15-$30. This is my first photography exhibit, I have never publicly displayed my photographs before; however, I have posted them on Facebook on my personal account.

20160503_095249I first began to take photographs as a child with disposable cameras. Most of my photos consisted of the three pet cats my family had when I was growing up. I received my first digital camera for Christmas in 2000—it was a Kodak DC3400 Digital Camera. I didn’t begin to take pictures with a central subject until 2007, when my parents and I went to Italy. I used this same camera when we went on that trip.

I became interested in photography in either my freshman or sophomore year of high school, when I chose photography for an elective class. We would take pictures around campus, extract the films, and develop them in a dark room. I also took pictures for another elective class during high school. The experiences I had with the camera during school helped me realized just what kind of subject I like my photography to feature.

I take my camera everywhere from places as far as Italy to just down the street in Falmouth. I have taken photographs of various monuments and landscape, such as the Grand Canyon in Arizona and the London Eye in England. I’ve also taken photographs of the Grist Mill at the Wayside Inn in Sudbury, which is one of the photographs I have displayed at the library.

My current camera is a Canon EOS Rebel T3, which I got for Christmas three years ago. Since then, I have taken over three thousand pictures but have shared only a handful of them. Most of the photographs I have displayed at the library were taken with this camera.

You should definitely go to the Mashpee Public Library sometimes this month to check out my photography! Believe me, you will not be disappointed. Price list is at the front desk.
