There’s absolutely nothing like that old-time, small-town feel of county fairs. They’re filled with entertainment, fun activities for children, exhibits you can spend hours at, and delicious food. Each year, the Barnstable County Fair returns to the Cape, bringing thousands upon thousands of visitors and its residents to this wonderful week-long event.
The Barnstable County Fair held its first event in 1844 and at this time, the event consisted of livestock and handcraft exhibits. Fifty years later, the Barnstable County Fair had become the most popular annual event on Cape Cod. By the early 1900s, there were various venues, entertainment, and popular exhibits being held, all of which were sponsored by local organizations. Over a hundred years later, the exhibits and venues have grown so much and has become so popular; it’s a hit year after year.
